Zum letzten Ligaspiel der Saison ging es am 17.03.2017 nach Geising zum Derby mit den Dresdner Fröschen. Die Frösche sind den Prellböcken diese Saison bereits ernsthaft gefährlich geworden, als sie im Pokalspiel zunächst 3:1 führen konnten, ehe sie mit viel Mühe am Ende sogar 6:3 besiegt werden konnten. Dass dies keine Ausnahme war, bewiesen die Frösche durch konstant starke Ergebnisse und einem sicheren 2. Platz hinter dem Meister. Die Prellböcke waren also ausreichend vorgewarnt.
Im ersten Drittel lief allerdings mal wieder nicht so viel zusammen, sodass hier ein recht schnödes 0:0 ohne wirkliche Chancen zu verzeichnen war.
Dem Coach wurde natürlich unwohl angesichts dieses Drittels – das Zweite sollte es also richten. Die Frösche kamen hier aber etwas geschickter aus der Kabine und überwandten Thomas #54 schnell glücklich aus spitzem Winkel zum 1:0. Ein wenig mehr Einsatz, jedoch weiter mangelhafter Aufbau und insgesamt wenige Abschlüsse ließen das Ergebnis im Drittel unverändert.
Das letzte Drittel also – mal wieder. „Kein Problem“ schien in den Köpfen der Prellböcke umzugehen. Immerhin schafften es die Eisenbahner jetzt endlich, die Frösche zu belagern. Kaum einen Entlastungsangriff brachten die Grünen noch zustande, viele Torschüsse der Prellböcke taten ihr Übriges für ein hochspannendes letztes Drittel. Das Spiel wurde härter, doch die Frösche witterten die Sensation. Sie räumten fleißig vorm eigenen Kasten auf und verteidigten mit jedem Mann. Der Puck wurde immer geklärt und die Prellböcke in die Verzweiflung getrieben. Als knapp 5 Minuten vor Schluss auch noch ein Konter durch die Frösche (wieder sehr glücklich) abgeschlossen wurde, war auch dem optimistischsten Prellbock klar, was die Stadionanzeige schließlich offenbarte: Die Prellböcke sind seit über 4 Jahren in der Liga erstmals wieder besiegt worden.
Riesenjubel auf der Frösche-Bank, die sich dank gelungener Nachwuchsarbeit und strenger Disziplin eine historische Saison mit Sahnehäubchen erarbeitet haben. Herzlichen Glückwunsch dazu! Wir freuen uns schon seeehr auf die nächste Saison ;-)
